How to Request Custom Song Charts That Work
Share
You know the song you want to play, but you cannot find the right chart.
Perhaps the song is not in the Charts4Guitar collection yet. Perhaps you need it in a different key. Or perhaps you want a particular version of the song.
A good custom chart request does not need to be complicated. The important thing is to give enough information to make sure the chart matches the song you actually want to play.
Start with the song and artist
Give the full song title and artist.
This is particularly important when different artists have recorded the same song or when a song has several well-known versions.
If you want a particular recording, say so. You might need the studio version, a live version or a specific arrangement.
The more clearly you identify the song, the less guesswork there is.
Tell us the key you need
The original recording may not be the best key for your voice or guitar.
If you know the key you want, include it in your request. If you normally use a capo, mention that too.
If you are not sure which key you need, explain how you plan to use the song. For example, you may be singing it yourself and need a more comfortable vocal range.
The aim is to create a chart that works for you, not simply reproduce the original recording in a key that may not suit your performance.
Tell us which version you want
Songs can have different intros, arrangements, repeats and endings.
If there is something specific about the version you know, tell us. Perhaps you want the particular intro from the recording, the full guitar solo, an extra chorus or a specific ending.
This information can make a big difference to how useful the finished chart is.
Tell us how you will use it
A chart for a solo guitarist may be different from one needed for a band rehearsal.
If you are preparing for a gig, rehearsing with a band or accompanying a singer, let us know. This helps make the chart practical for the situation in which you will actually use it.
Keep the request simple
You do not need to know complicated musical terminology.
Just tell us the song, artist, key if you know it, the version you want and anything important about the arrangement.
For example:
“Please chart ‘Song Title’ by Artist Name in G for solo acoustic guitar and vocals. Please include the full intro, bridge and final chorus.”
That gives the chart maker a clear starting point.
What happens next?
Once the details are clear, the chart can be created around the song you actually want to play.
Charts4Guitar charts are designed to provide more than just a collection of chord names. They give guitarists a clear roadmap of the song, with chords, lyrics, bar lines, tempo, BPM and arrangement information.
The goal is simple: less time figuring it out and more time playing.
Accurate. Clear. Easy to read.
Make Playing Fun.
